Kaprun is a national park community. In the National Park Hohe Tauern all significant alpine ecosystems receive over a large area and undisturbed. About 266 peaks more than 3,000 m high. 1200 km2 of the area of national parks account for pristine natural landscape. The reserve is home to 130 sq. km glacier, over 550 lakes and 279 streams. The Salzburg share reserve amounts to 805km ².
